Father’s Day for a Sailor

I sew and my husband build boats and sails them. Hobbies that should last us the 2+ decades before we retire!  I started this quilt a (very, very) long time ago and broke the free motion foot doing all the quilting.

I eventually got a replacement foot but it still sat in a WIP pile for way too long. In fact, this is probably one of the first 10 quilts I ever did. Here is a closeup of the pebbling on the back…many MANY spools of thread!

When I pulled this out to finish for fathers day I was pleasantly surprised at the backing fabrics, it had been stashed for so  long I forgot how much I like the back!

And a detail that only my husband will appreciate, this is an approximation of the catamaran he built;

This one is an approximation of his brother’s boat;

And a fair guess at his father’s boat;IMG_1011
