So much for using up the fabric I have. While I have been working on this show (Mr. Marmalade, come see it) I have been dreaming about the quilts I want to make when I have evenings home again. For months I have been searching for boutique fabric stores in the Philadelphia area, with little success. You’d think fabric row would have more than upholstery and prom dress satin, but not so much. I heard about one in the Poconos but that is 2 hours away. I decided to try stocking up with the online stores that come highly recommended by other blogs. My extremely biast review follows;
About a month ago I ordered $50 of fabric from Repro Depot. I was pretty disappointed when it arrived, even though it arrived very speedy, the colors were not what they looked like online. The blues were greyish, the red fabric with the yellow print turned out to be metallic gold print, maybe they could say that??? They only sell in full yards, so I got less variety than I was used to. All in all, not loving the experience.
But then I tried equilter! Oh how I love them. It took a little longer to receive but similar prices, and they sell in half yards which brought me the variety I crave (though I did buy the astronauts in a full yard). All the fabric below cost $60. Maybe it was my fault, vibrant colors are easier to pick online, although they looked so vibrant last time…

above I am thrilled with the flowers and dots but have no idea what to do with it. It is like a quilt all on it’s own. It doesn’t even need other fabric. Maybe baby dresses?
below The big flowers and the pink print are screaming to be pillows in the front hall. They don’t match as well in real life as they did on the website but I think they will be close enough on a dark green bench…
I had and used up the poodles, previously I found them on fabric row in south philly but when I went back they were gone, I love that I found them again! Aren’t those tomatoes amazing? And the paisley, swoon

The astronauts actually brought a smile to my husband’s face. For the most part he is well trained to say, “yes, honey that’s great”. But I think he really meant it with this one. Or his is getting better at fibbing. Slippery road that is…
