things I have learned in the last 18 months.

Filed under: The sweet baby — perrymoffitt @ 12:23 pm

1) Elmo is the easiest Muppet to recognize.

2) I can not make anyone sleep against their will.

3) Cherry tomatoes can only be eaten off the vine. The same tomatoes on the high chair are unacceptable.

4) Single moms are heroic.

5) Thomas, Ikea and Brio trains are not compatible with each other. Thomas even has sets that aren’t compatible with other Thomas sets. Bastards.

6) The clerks at the grocery store move much faster when there is a child screaming in the cart.

7) Idiots have children. And scream at them in the locker room of the YMCA water babies class on Wednesdays at 10 am. I am not talking about myself here folks.

8 ) Petunia really enjoys Darcy’s mealtimes. Babies and dogs should come as a pair.

9) The best purchase I have ever made are the blackout roller blinds for the nursery.

10) her self portraits crack me up.

  2. This makes me smile — the Thomas the Train days seem so long ago! By the way, sometimes you can get a great deal on a big lot of Thomas the Train stuff on eBay. Not the collectible-new-in-package nonsense, the gently-loved-and-banged variety is where you can get a deal. Your kids won’t care about chipped paint, and it’s a lot easier on the pocketbook that way.

#6 is great, too — reminds me of the time my son was in the seat of the shopping cart, which was piled high with groceries, and we were in a loooonnng checkout line that was taking forever. My son must have been bored; he started throwing/launching/hurling glass baby food jars at the floor, where they would smash and splatter things like Puree of Squash and Creamed Spinach all over the magazines, candy, and other shoppers in line with us. Not only did the store personnel start moving faster, but they let me go straight to Customer Service to checkout immediately! To this day I am too ashamed to go back to that grocery store, and that incident happened about 8 years ago.

    • that is good advice! I have been looking half heartedly on craigslist for a train collection, but ebay is always better since it comes right to the mailbox!
