Toddler Quilt

I did a custom quilt for a little boy who wanted puppies, robots, letters, numbers, trucks, shapes and dinosaurs.

His mom hit all of the fabric stores and we came up with this pattern together.

I might go back and re-do the binding later, but I rushed to get this done as a christmas present (and still missed that deadline, but came sooooo close.)

I took these pictures in a big hurry before delivery. The front squares are 9″ x 9″ and quilt finished at very close to 70″ x 90″.

Simple Star Patchwork

My MIL loves green. I abused this knowledge for her xmas present.

6″ squares with a few wonky stars made a perfect couch throw.

Some long ago horded Frida Kahlo fabric made a nice contrast for the stars.

I am very happy with how well the batiks and the Tula Pink fabric blend.

And that purple batik, I couldn’t love it more.

It was hard to give this one away!

And the back, I swear that the lower right fabric looks reptilian up close, but with those other 2 batiks, magic!

Purple and Green Lattice Wedding Quilt

I tend to not use patterns. I do the rough math and adjust to make larger or smaller. This time I thought I was going to do a Queen size quilt.

But I had started with around 80 hand cut diamonds and when I picked this pattern I was faced with having to cut around 140 more to make a big quilt.

Time was running short and then I looked at the bride’s registry. Even though she asked for a purple and green quilt, all the rest of the bedding was red. So, I gave my self permission to go the easy route. Couch quilt!

I asked my husband if we could just give them cash and keep the quilt.

But he says he already told them about the quilt. Phooey.

Thrifty Wedding Vol #1, Guest Book and Cocktail Hour Game

I shared the guest book tree earlier- here it is in action at the wedding!

I also made some wedding mad-libs for the guests to fill out. We put them in a binder during dinner and the collection was handed around and really enjoyed.

All we did for this was buy card stock for $8 and print them on our home computer.

Aside from both of those we put these on the 4 tables. We asked  people to write messages for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th anniversaries… so easy to prepare!

Quilt Guest book

If everything has gone according to plan, we are at the beach, having just thrown one heck of a beach wedding for my husband’s sister. My blog has been pretty quiet while I have been doing lots of secret crafty stuff for this wedding.  Instead of making you wait another week for pictures I have prepped this post to be published while we are away!

My gift to the happy couple is this wall hanging which is also the guest book.

When we visited Spain in the spring I got lots of leaves signed by family members that wouldn’t be able to make the flight over to the states.

I also got some of the more accessible stateside guests to sign in advance to balance out the bride and groom sides. So, not truly a guest book, more of a family and friends tree, I guess. I am so happy I got some of the leaves signed in advance,  it will look in-process while it is at the wedding instead of showing up totally clean and without any names.

Materials used on the quilt were all from my stash so they were (kinda) free.

Many more pictures coming of the event and the crafts!

WIP Purple and Green Diamond Quilt

A month from tomorrow my husband’s sister is getting married and my guest room has a HUGE pile of crafty things growing and growing and growing for the event. More on that later.
I stepped away from that wedding to work on a quilt for an October wedding who requested purple and green. A sneak peak of the progress.

I am working without a pattern, just some rough math and graph paper and almost 200 purple diamonds. I am loving the diamonds these days. Starting with this baby quilt and then the  pink and red pillows I feel like a pro at cutting diamonds.

2″ green sashing and I am loving the result! It has taken almost 2 weeks to get to this point, where I have sewn half the top. It might be a while before I can call this baby done.

Scrappy Houses Quilt

I have been done with this quilt for a while, but was waiting for my mother-in-law to come for a visit so I could finally give it to her. Christmas in July is what this really is, 7 months past it’s due date!

There is a lot going on in this quilt,I took some detail shots in an earlier post.

I like the back almost as much as the front. It is a long saved Ikea duvet cover. I had to add a little to the sides to make the twin size expanded to a queen size. The final size on this quilt is 90″ x 90″. Green is a hard color when it comes to quilts. Or at least I find it to be tough. It always looks a bit christmasy unless you can find some nice light greens. I think the binding saved this one from the christmas vibe.  I am always on the lookout for green on green prints, and now more than ever because I have used up 2 of them!

Scrappy House Quilt, WIP

This was supposed to be a surprise present, but if I don’t name the recipient, it might still be a surprise…  I have been working on this on and off for more than 7 months and I just keep finding more to do on it.

I think I am in the home stretch. I have the back and binding picked out, just need some of that valuable “time” that is so scarce these days.

I did a rotten job of measuring. I just made some little house and sashed them willy-nilly.  Currently it is 85″ wide and 74″ long. I think I might have to add another tiny row of houses on top to get it a smidge longer.

I used some of my hoarded Obama fabric, which I think the recipient might love. I still need to add some chimneys and front doors here and there. I think I may never feel finished on this one, I will just have to give up at some point!

This red and pink house might be my favorite, I just love the couch!

Pink and Green Baby Quilt

For our baby!

I have spent a long time on this quilt, partly because my big belly makes sewing a little tougher, but partly because I wanted it to be awesome.  I think it ended up pretty awesome.

I used some scraps for the back, not really what I had imagined in the beginning, but I am pretty pleased with it. The minty green stripes are minkee, I think maybe I should have made the whole back minkee, but the pinwheel squares were too hard to resist.

pink and green peek

Filed under: A Lot of Quilts,Baby Sized Quilts,Green Quilts,Pink Quilts — perrymoffitt @ 12:20 pm

They tell me I only have 10 weeks to go until baby arrives. So I am trying to get a few creations finished in the next 6 weeks.  I have tons of inspiration, but not much time. These are (some of) my favorite Christmas presents, they are now a fixture on my bedside table and have me dreaming of beautiful new creations;

I have 2 baby quilts planned, this one finally pulled together after a trip to Cloth and Bobbin last week. Some of the fabric was in my stash from the summer but together they look amazing!   A peek;
