starting a red and pink quilt

I have been collecting a rather sizable stash of red and pink prints for a few years now. And it has been at least 4 years since I made a quilt for myself. I am ignoring the fact that my bedroom is painted the most perfect blue and that I cut out way too many of these triangles to make this quilt any smaller than a queen.  I am so in love with this quilt pattern that it was impossible for me to get it out of my head and that paired with my much loved red and pink stash is making me adore this quilt even in the early stages.

It is a tough one,  I am fighting with getting all the points to match in the center. It is HARD to get those points to match! As evidenced by one block in this picture that I will have to redo now that I see how bad it is!

Now that my husband’s work schedule has picked up again it has been ages since I have been able to get to a quilt meeting or quilt store. I was feeling a little lonesome without someone to chat about fabric goodness. Then out-of-the-blue a costume designer friend started asking me about quilts and we picked up 2 other sewers and we are doing a floating sewing night once a month and since there are so few of us we can work it around everyone’s schedule and oh, it has been a joy.  I wish I had thought of it myself! But there is something to be said about the camaraderie of a bottle of wine, a good iron and lots of sharp scissors.

And because we are never spinning enough plates, my hubby has started his own etsy store.

He is a camper (I am not). He is interested in survivalist training (I like to point out we have a perfectly good bed to sleep in). And he has a cute way of traveling with 15 feet of rope (you would never need rope if you just stayed home where there are hot showers). If you know a camper or survivalist, send him the way of this little store, maybe they will even strike up a little camper group or something.  He claims I don’t like camping when I disparage tent-sleeping, I can’t imagine what he is talking about.
